Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety. They will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with clients whilst providing a range of beauty services including application of gel polish and acrylic nail applications. In parallel, learners will develop their communication and customer service skills, their awareness of environmental sustainability and their commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving, team working and research skills will also be developed.
This 6 week course has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in providing nail enhancement techniques using liquid and powder systems.
Models are required for each practical day.
Learners must achieve all mandatory units which include:
• Health safety and hygiene
• Consultation techniques and client care
• Anatomy and physiology for nail technologists
• Using Nail products safely
• Tools of the Trade
• Preparing the nail
• Gel polish applications
• Nail Art
• Provide and maintain liquid and powder nail enhancements
• Applying tips
• Problem nail shapes and how to correct them
• Product application
• Maintaining and removing artificial nails
• Refills and rebalance
As a nail technician, students could progress directly into employment in a variety of contexts, which include:
• Commercial salons
• Destination/day spas
• Nail bars or concessions
• Independent/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
• Retail and training
• Cruise liners
• Photographic or media work

Mondays 6pm to 9pm (Theory) and Tuesdays 9.30am to 4.30pm (Practical).
