VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Nail Technology (Gel)
Who is this qualification for?
The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Nail Technology (Gel) is a Technical Certificate qualification aimed at students who wish to pursue a career as an employed and/or self-employed specialist nail technician.
What does this qualification cover?
Students must achieve all mandatory units which include:
– Health safety and hygiene
– Consultation techniques and client care
– Manicure treatments
– Pedicure treatments
– Gel polish applications
– Process payment for beauty purchases
– Anatomy and physiology for nail technologists
– Nail art services
– Promote and encourage beauty retail sales
– Display stock to promote beauty sales
– Provide and maintain gel nail enhancement
– Provide and maintain nail wrap enhancements
Throughout this qualification, students will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety. You will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with clients whilst providing a range of beauty services including manicure, pedicure, gel polish and nail art applications. Students will develop abilities to display stock to promote retail sales, whist developing your knowledge and understanding of how to promote and encourage retails sales and process payment for beauty purchase. In parallel, students will develop communication and customer service skills, your awareness of environmental sustainability and your commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving, team working and research skills will also be developed.
Why is this qualification the most suitable?
This qualification is one of two VTCT level 2 Technical Certificate qualifications in nail technology. They will qualify students to become employed as a nail technician or enable you to take up further enhanced studies.
The Level 2 Diploma in Nail Technology (Gel) allows you to specialize in gel enhancement applications, enabling mastery of techniques, whereas the Level 2 Diploma in Nail Technology (Liquid and powder) allows you to concentrate your time in gaining mastery of liquid and powder applications.
What could this qualification lead to?
Students who achieve this qualification are eligible to become members of the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) or Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT). As a nail technician, students could progress directly into employment in a variety of contexts, which include:
– commercial salons
– destination/day spas
– nail bars or concessions
– independent/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
– retail and training
– cruise liners
– photographic or media work

Part time: Dates to be released April 2018.
This course can be completed as an add on for any VTCT Acrylic (Liquid & Powder) students at a different price.
