Who is this qualification for?
The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments is an advanced qualification that has been specifically designed for beauty therapists.
Entry onto this qualification can be via the previous attainment of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline prior to undertaking this qualification. Coco College of Beauty Therapy will have ensured that you have the required knowledge, understanding and skills to enrol and successfully achieve this qualification.
Why is this qualification most suitable?
This qualification is the only Level 4 qualification offered by VTCT in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments. The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments is a vocationally related qualification and is focused on reducing hair growth and photo rejuvenation of the skin using intense pulsed light and laser treatments. This qualification requires you to develop skills to carry out IPL and laser treatments. This qualification allows you to gather evidence in a realistic working environment or real working environment without the need for fee-paying clients.
What does this qualification cover?
This qualification has been specifically designed for students of all age groups, builds on existing knowledge and understanding of therapy skills and will develop an enhanced repertoire of technical skills to prepare you for employment. You will have your skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.
This qualification will require research; it includes the skills involved in providing a thorough consultation with the client to formulate a specific course of treatment, tailored to suit individual client needs, use laser and light treatments for skin rejuvenation and hair removal and to manage the health, safety and security of the salon.

Practical observations by your Tutor and an Internal Verifier from VTCT
• Portfolio of evidence
• Assignments
As part of this qualification, you are required to produce a portfolio of evidence. A portfolio will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt. It may be in electronic or paper format. Your assessor will provide guidance on how to prepare the portfolio of evidence and how to show practical achievement and understanding of the knowledge required to successfully complete this qualification.
It is this booklet along with the portfolio of evidence that will serve as the prime source of evidence for this qualification.
Evidence in the portfolio may take the following forms:
• Observed work • Witness statements • Audio-visual media • Evidence of prior learning or attainment • Written questions • Oral questions • Assignments • Case studies
All evidence should be documented in the portfolio and cross-referenced to unit outcomes. Constructing the portfolio of evidence should not be left to the end of the course.
What could this qualification lead to?
When you have successfully completed this qualification you will be in a position to aspire to promotion as an advanced beauty therapist providing laser and IPL hair removal and skin rejuvenation services within a beauty salon. With new Industry regulations coming into effect soon, all therapists will need a level 4 qualification to perform all laser treatments.

Price €1795.00 plus €200 for VTCT assessments and certification.
